Senior Associate, I'Asia C. Scarlett-Jones, comes to the firm after serving for over two years as Principal Court Attorney to Hon. Ayesha K. Brantley in Nassau County Family Court. While in Family Court, Asia handled settlement conferences with pro se litigants and attorneys on matters pending before the Court as well as being responsible for researching complex legal issues and matters before the Court, conferring the court on legal issues and decisions, assisting in drafting decisions, orders, and objections pending before the Court; and managing the trial and conference calendar. She also supervised, trained, and mentored newly hired court interns.
Prior to serving at the court, Asia was a staff attorney at the Nassau County Legal Aid Society where she represented indigent litigants in Family Court matters at trials and hearings on child support and custody matters in addition to motion practice, discovery issues, mediation, and settlement. o
Asia obtained her J.D. from the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University where she concentrated in Family and Matrimonial Law. While at Hofstra Law, Asia also participated in the Hofstra Youth Advocacy Clinic handling abuse, neglect, and special immigration juvenile proceedings. She obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of Albany.
